Halloween is the best holiday for monsters. (Duh, right?) This little boy’s monster is particularly excited about the costuming element: “I said to Monster, / ‘Do you know what kind you’d want to wear?’ / An astronaut? / A fireman? / A giant Bartlett pear?” Nope, a cowboy—a costume so exciting that Monster wears his “twenty-gallon hat” all week until he tires of it. His next fascination is with ballet: “Monster put a tutu on / and danced around the kitchen. / Pirouette, / plié, / tendu, / and back to first position.” But his enthusiasm for dance runs out, too, thus setting a pattern. The rhymes, quite obviously, are bouncy and irreverent, and just as much heck is raised by Grieb’s cartoony illustrations of the enormous, blue, horned beast with the happy underbite as he cavorts around the home before dropping from exhaustion. Wonderful picture book for Halloween

This is a delightful rhyming funny story that many kids will relate to as they think about choosing a costume for Halloween. The illustrations are fabulous and add much to the story. Czajak and Grieb making a winning team in a book that kids will want to read and reread. Fantastic!

Monster & Me Forever!

My children and I absolutely LOVE the Monster & Me series. The author does such a great job telling a great story in an enjoyable way that my kids love to read it again and again (so do I). The monster theme is so well done as he's a monster but yet adorable and lovable. It's something that boys and girls can really relate to as it touches their imaginations while telling real world stories.

Children of all ages appreciated this book. It was rhymy but in a good way. It even had a storyline that didn't disappoint. The illustrations were fun filled with lots of detail. It's a must have Halloween story for young children.
